Orlando trial lawyer John Morgan, who's behind Amendment 2 to raise Florida's minimum wage, will be part of a live discussion between supporters and opponents of the measure starting Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
Morgan will be joined by Ben Pollara, a senior advisor of the campaign to pass the amendment.
Two opponents of the measure will also attend: Jay Johnson, a restaurant owner and president of the Lee County chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, and Eric Hoppenbrouwer, executive director of the political committee Business Voice in Brevard County.
The Florida Pulse, a new livestream series by opinion editors at the USA TODAY Network- Florida, will host the live event. You can watch it on the network's Facebook pages, including the Naples Daily News, Fort Myers News-Press, FLORIDA TODAY, Tallahassee Democrat, and the Palm Beach Post.
Amendment 2 will appear on the Nov. 3 and will gradually raise the minimum wage from $8.56 to $15 in 2026. It needs at least 60% of voter approval to pass.
The moderator will be Mike Clark, Florida Times-Union editorial page editor. He will be joined by Naples Daily News columnist Brent Batten, Gainesville Sun editorial page Editor Nathan Crabbe and Krys Fluker, opinion editor at the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
